Thrush - Candida
What is
Thrush ( Candida)?
Thrush is another common
infection which can cause sores at the angles of the mouth, especially in
denture wearers where it lurks above the dental plate. Babies may get white
patches of thrush on the tongue and on the sides of the mouth. Thrush
infection is vagina with itching and discharge is also common and many women
have thrush in several places at once. Vaginal thrush usually clears with
pessaries such as Nystatin and Clotrimazole. Contraceptive pills, antibiotics
and pregnancy can create conditions which encourage thrush. Avoid nylon
panties, tight jeans and a moist environment. Hands frequently immersed in
water or cuticles pushed back can suffer redness and swelling around the
fingernails due to thrush infection. To help stop nail problems, avoid water
by wearing rubber or plastic gloves. For mouth problems, wear better fitting
false teeth, take them out at night and scrub the dentures well with a
nail-brush.
