Sleeping Disorder - Insomnia

What is Insomnia?

Insomnia is such a common condition, affecting millions of Americans, yet many people are not aware of the serious consequences of Insomnia. Commonly referred to as sleeplessness, or lack of sleep, insomnia can lead to severe fatigue, anxiety, depression and lack of concentration. Insomnia is serious, although unlike other diseases it does not kill. But only a sleep deprived person knows how lonely and how terrible this state can be.

Sleeplessness, or Insomnia, is something of an epidemic in the US right now. The National Sleep Foundation says that 47 million American adults may be at risk of injury and physical and emotional difficulty because they do not get enough sleep. Recently, the National Institutes of Health estimated that 50 million to 70 million Americans of all ages suffer sleep-related problems.

In this website we will try to explain in extremely simple words, what lies behind insomnia and also tell you how to get help. Although there are plenty of good sleeping pills available in the market today (you can’t switch on the television, without having an ad for a sleeping pill staring at you) we feel that rather than depending on those every night, you try some of the natural remedies contained in this website.

We believe it is important to share this educational information about Insomnia with the public as well as with health care professionals. It is not intended to recommend any particular treatment plan or to replace the advice of physicians. It is important that individuals seek and rely on the advice of health care professionals regarding individual medical conditions.
